Your Questions, Answered

  • The first step would be to fill out a contact form on the Contact Us section of our website. Once I receive your inquiry, I will reach out to you to schedule a free 15-minute video call. During our consultation, we can see if I might be a good fit for you.

If we decide to schedule, I will set you up with a Client Portal account, where you can log in and complete all of the necessary consent forms I will need prior to us meeting. Then we will schedule our initial intake appointment.

The intake consists of a 60-minute Biopsychosocial Assessment, where we will discuss your history and what you are looking to work on in greater detail. After our intake appointment, we will discuss our collaborative plan to move forward with scheduling either weekly or every-other-week sessions.

Therapy is nuanced, and finding an appropriate client-therapist fit is one of the most important aspects of a therapeutic relationship. There could be a number of reasons a client and therapist might not be the best fit. If for some reason that occurs, I’m happy to help you find the right therapist for you by providing appropriate referrals.

  • The length of time that someone attends therapy varies greatly. Some clients start to feel relief within a few sessions, while others experience a more gradual process. It’s important that we determine a pace that feels right to you, and we can discuss this and re-evaluate as we meet.

  • An Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) session consists of working with a licensed mental health professional (MH), an equine specialist (ES), and horses. EAP is a unique experiential process that could include various forms of interacting with our horses. This includes observing them in their paddocks, direct interaction through connecting with them in their environment such as their paddock or our outdoor arena, and working with them as a team by doing shared activities like leading and grooming.

These sessions are unmounted, and no prior horse experience is necessary.

  • EAP sessions are strictly unmounted, meaning there is no riding involved. If you are interested in riding, we can provide you with recommendations for equine facilities that offer riding lessons near you.
